Why is the stone veneer on my chimney cracking or stained?
Manufactured stone veneer needs a proper water barrier and drainage behind it. When those are missing or damaged, water gets trapped, causing stains, cracks and sometimes rot in the framing. We trace where the water gets in and fix that path.
How is a chimney flashed on a shake roof?
With step flashing woven in with each course of shakes, then counter flashing set into the masonry. Done right, it sheds water without depending on caulk.
There's a bat in the house from the fireplace. Now what?
Close interior doors to keep it in one room, open a window, and turn off the lights so it can find its way out. Don't handle a bat with bare hands, and contact your doctor or the local health department if anyone may have touched it. Then we'll cap or screen the chimney.
